Minor rally cap (4-5)

Minor Rally Cap is an introductory program developed by Baseball Canada.  The Rally Cap Program is an initiative to enhance players' and coaches' first experience with the game. The program helps teams teach players the five FUNdamentals of baseball in a fun and safe environment.  As players advance through each development level, stickers are awarded to their progress report.

The format involves three teams of six players that meet at the park at the same time. Two teams play a 20 minute game, while one team practices in the outfield. Every 20 minutes they switch, so that each team plays offense and defense and has one practice in the 60 minutes session.  Each team will work with their coach to progress from primarily skill development at the beginning of the season to more of a game format at the end of the season.

Games are played on Tuesday nights at Woodburn Ball Park and will include both 5:30PM and 6:30PM start times.

Grand Slam (8-9)

The Grand Slam program is designed to promote physical development of children through the game of baseball. The program helps develop physical literacy by using a modified game to teach the basic baseball skills to children and ensure success.

There are no hard and fast rules for Grand Slam. Baseball Canada has put forth guidelines; teams of 6, all players in the infield, all players bat each inning, no walks or strikeouts, etc. Typical game days could include a 15-30 minute practice and then a game with another team afterward. 60-90 minutes total.

All players in this age group must participate in this programming to be eligible for 9U play.

Games are played on Tuesday nights at Woodburn Ball Park and will include both 5:00PM and 6:30PM start times.
